Divisionwide Announcements
Shop for School Tax-Free before School Begins; Virginia Sales Tax Holiday is August 1–3
July 21, 2014

School supplies selling for $20 or less per item and articles of clothing, including footwear, selling for $100 or less per item will be exempt from sales tax during the Virginia Sales Tax Holiday scheduled for Friday, August 1 through Sunday, August 3.

Families with children in Prince William County Public Schools are encouraged to take advantage of these savings to prepare their students for the upcoming school year. Check your school’s Web site or call your school for a copy of the 2014–15 supply list. For a directory of schools, go to pwcs.edu and click on “Schools,” then select the directory by grade level.

Beginning July 28, SPARK, the Education Foundation for PWCS, will collect school supplies at the Kelly Leadership Center to help ensure that all student have the back-to-school basics they need to return to school ready to learn. The Kelly Leadership Center is located at 14715 Bristow Road, Manassas, VA 20112
Most-needed items include backpacks, 3-ring binders, tabbed dividers, folders with pockets, spiral notebooks, loose-leaf paper, colored pencils, pencil boxes/bags, tissues, hand sanitizer, marble composition books, ink pens (blue or black), No. 2 pencils, washable markers, crayons, highlighters, glue/glue sticks, rounded scissors, index cards, and graph paper.
School Announcements
Attention all students who are driving to school
Mr. Price will begin selling student parking passes beginning on Monday, 28 July 2014.  Cost is still $100.00, cash or money order is preferred, however, checks can be made out to Forest Park High School.  Remember, this is a first come first serve process and students will have the choice of picking their spot for the year.  Parking permit applications  MUST be filled out entirely and signed by your parents before a pass is issued.  Applications can be picked up in the front office of the school.  Please make sure your applications are COMPLETE with current vehicle information.
Acting Forest Park Principal Announced
Long Time Prince William County Public Schools Principal Roger Dallek will lead Forest Park High School during the search for a permanent replacement for Principal Eric Brent, who left PWCS to accept an administrative position outside the county.

Dallek Served PWCS for more than 30 years, most recently as principal of Gar-Field High School, prior to retiring in 2007. He has emerged from retirement several times to help the School Division with important assignments, including the opening of Patriot High School.

“Mr. Dallek will ensure that Forest Park students, teachers, and community have everything necessary to begin a successful school year in September,” said Associate Superintendent for High Schools Mickey Mulgrew. “We are fortunate to have such an experienced and capable leader step in and keep the school headed in the right direction while we search for the best person to chart its course for the future.”         

2015 Senior Portraits
Senior Portraits will be conducted in the auditorium during the summer and the fall. Seniors, please be sure to attend one sitting--even if you decide to purchase your portraits through another vendor (senior ID cards are processed during these sessions). Forest Park ranks 41 in Virginia and 603 in the nation, according to The Washington Post's list of America’s Most Challenging High Schools (Challenge Index), putting it in the top 3% in the nation.
